But what in the world is home to a bookworm stuck in an isekai narrative replete with scheming nobles, petty collaborators, persnickety royalty, and friends drifting further apart? ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v15 briefly returns to Ehrenfest, and upon apparating locally, Lady Rozemyne is beset with a multitude of responsibilities pursuant to resolving the many emotional burdens she had initially left behind.Įhrenfest is abuzz, but perhaps not in the way Rozemyne would prefer. It's funny and heart-wrenching in turns, and if Myne is constantly outside her own comfort zone, she's forcing everyone else out of theirs too. The series continues to flesh out its characters and world, but it stays accessible. Overall this is another fantastic volume. Can't say I'm fond of her husband-to-be, though. Though Sylvester isn't completely disregarding her opinions, this is going to be a political marriage through and through. Right now she's old enough that talks about her marriage have already started. but that isn't the life she leads anymore. Myne has been hanging on to her lower city connections for dear life. Then there's the school parts, where Rozemyne proves yet again that no matter how much her family and friends try to contain the likely damage, she'll always find a way around whatever safeguards they've got in place.Īnd somehow it never occurred to me that some goodbyes would be necessary.
We're getting a lot more of what's going on back home, including the usual High Bishop duties, Rozemyne starting to expand her printing empire to other parts of her dutchy, and some good detail on several of her retainers. So this volume is kind of all over the place, in a good way. And despite her best efforts, she's going to have to attend a few social gatherings. As Rozemyne's first year at the academy comes to its end, she's got plenty to do in her own dutchy before returning to school to inadvertently terrorize her teachers and peers.
